Shampoo helps remove debris, odours, and oil, while cleansing the strands and preserving the integrity of the extension bonds. It also prepares the hair to better absorb moisture and nutrients in the next steps of care. Simply put — shampoo is a must for maintaining the longevity, softness, and beauty of your extensions.
💧 Step 2: How to Properly Shampoo Hair Extensions
Before applying shampoo, make sure the extensions are thoroughly moistened. Understanding the structure of your extensions is key — whether they’re sew-in weaves, tape-ins, clip-ins, microbeads, fusion bonds, or even wigs.
Apply a small amount of shampoo to your hands and gently massage it into the damp extensions. Let it sit for a moment to work its magic, then rinse thoroughly. Be mindful not to tangle the hair — always keep the strands aligned as if freshly combed. If needed, use a wide-tooth comb carefully while the hair is still wet, as wet extensions are more delicate.
